Safari/African experience
This amazing
week is specially designed by Bush Direct to give as much experience
as possible in one week of the Kruger Park, rehabilitation centres,
an adventure day plus some community work so that participants can
see the real South Africa. Compare our prices and we believe that
you will agree that no-one offers as much as we do!
SUNDAY:
Transfer to Tzaneen from Johannesburg airport or from your last
project (within Limpopo)
Stay in a local
guest house, evening meal included.
MONDAY:
After breakfast visit the elephant rehabilitation centre,
learn all about these fascinating animals whilst standing next to
them and touching them. Take an elephant ride through the Bush and
hopefully watch them having a mud bath afterwards.
Visit the
beautiful tea gardens for lunch and marvel at the views.
Visit the
vervet monkey rehabilitation centre and learn about the vervets,
samango monkey, the baboons and see the other animals such as the
bushpigs and the ostriches. Depending on the situation you may be
fortunate enough to handle a monkey.
Stay in a guest
house near Phalaborwa where you’ll enjoy an evening meal.
TUESDAY:
Get up very early and enter the Kruger Park where you will
spend the day looking at the animals including the Big 5.
Have lunch at
one of the restaurants and spend the afternoon driving in the
Kruger.
Stay in the
Kruger overnight
and have a nice braii (BBQ) under the stars.
WEDNESDAY:
Get up very early and spend the day in the Kruger looking at
the animals until the afternoon. Lunch will again be at one of the
restaurants.
You’ll leave the
Kruger and spend the night at a local guest house where you’ll eat
your evening meal.
THURSDAY:
Get up very early to go to the Game Reserve where you will eat
breakfast before going for a walk with either one or two lions.
Head for
Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre where you will have an
organized tour to see all the animals there and understand their
behaviour and why these ones can’t be released into the wild.
Lunch will be at
the Reptile Park before having a tour of the Reptile Park
seeing the snakes and other reptiles. Those brave enough can hold a
python as an optional extra.
You’ll then
drive to Tzaneen where you’ll stay in a local guest house and eat
your evening meal.
FRIDAY:
After breakfast you will go to
Magoebaskloof where you will do a Canopy Tour over waterfalls
and through ravines. Lunch will be in a local pub in Haenertsberg
and then you continue to Thaba Metsi to go on a two hour quad
bike ride which will include a stop at Cheerio Gardens tea
garden.
After this you will go back to your guest house where you will see
the tame hippo and be able to feed him.
SATURDAY:
After breakfast you will go to Alon Farm, a local community
where you will go on a hike through the Bush and see the tame
zebra which usually come up close enough for you to touch.
You
will have lunch with the large community and then spend the
afternoon on a community project of your choice ranging from
helping in a school, the orphanage, the workshops, building bridges
or other construction, or other seasonal projects.
After this you will return to the guest house for your evening meal.
SUNDAY:
You will be transferred either to Johannesburg airport for your
flight out or to your project if you are going to one after this
week.
What
is Included:
all accommodation, 3 meals a day, transfer from Johannesburg airport
or from your last project (within Limpopo), transfer on to your next
project (within Limpopo) or to Johannesburg airport.
Entries to all Rehabilitation Centres, Elephant Ride, walk with the
lion, Canopy Ride and 2 hour Quad bike, Entry to Kruger Park,
accompanied by project leader on all the visits and projects.
What
is NOT Included:
Flights to Johannesburg, travel/medical insurance, optional extras
such as holding a python etc, luxury items such as chocolate,
alcohol etc.

£750 per person
£700 per person 2 people booking at the same time
£650 per person 3 or more booking at the same time
The
Safari/African experience can be added onto any of our projects as
an extra week.
If
you have already experienced something from the above itinerary on
your Project then we will discuss with you what we can replace it
with.
